If you are using the quick fuse tap install method, then your ambient lights will be powered on whenever the key is in the ignition.

If you are looking to have the lights only on with your headlights etc. then there is an alternative way of hooking up the kit that you may need to try.

Try tapping into the passenger side loom on the rear parking light circuit (blue wire with Gray stripe). This will give you a switched power source of 12volts. When you unlock the car the lights will turn on and the lights come on when it gets dark as well. After the truck is off for a period of time the lights turn off and also when locked they turn off.
